Stegosauria

How to pronounce : STAY-go-SORE-ee-ah

A group of herbivores that lived during the Jurassic and early Cretaceous periods.

Stegosaurs lived in the North America, Europe and China ( one species,Kentrosaurus, lived in Africa)

Early stegosaurs (like Huayangosaurus) could run. As they evolved, the hind limbs grew much longer than the fore limbs. (As seen in Stegosaurus) This prevented them from running, but placed their tail spikes (thagomizer) much higher up in the air – offering greater defence from larger carnivores
